FROM START TO NOW...
My name is Lauren West, I am 19 years old and I live in Langley B.C. I am originally from Owensound, Ontario. I moved to Vancouver in 1996.
I started singing when I was 5 years old and was inspired by Celine Dion song “my heart will go on”, from the movie Titanic. I then went on to perform this song for my aunts wedding, which then led to my first recording, and a feature in a newspaper in Naniamo. This recording was requested to be played at the funeral of one of our close relatives after that.
Since I was 5, I have always known that I wanted to be a singer, and was determined to get there no matter what. I have done a few concerts, some fundraisers and competitions. My proudest performance would have been when I performed at the Tom Lee in Vancouver for the Junos.
My most memorable award was one given to me in a songwriting competition. I received free recording time and a free membership with music B.C. I recorded my first demo with my free recording time which featured 2 songs I wrote with my brother.
I have always been interested in sports, I’ve received many awards including a scholarship. My other interest is criminal law. I've recently started my undergrad in psychology after I receive my bachelors I would then transfer and finish my criminal law. I always have believed hard work is what makes us who we are, and plays a roll in all achievements.
My goal for my music career and life, is to make music not only for myself, but for others. I hope to inspire younger kids or people in general to follow their dreams, and set goals for themselves. I really would love to be a roll-model to those around me, to share my musical path in getting to where I am today. My goal one day is to make it to the top of the charts, and become a world famous singer. Music or singing to me isn’t a job, it is my life, it is an expression of who I am. I enjoyed working with Sam and Dave from SOS, we had many great times in the studio, times that will never be forgotten. It was a privilege to get to work with Craig Smart, he is an amazing writer and a cool and outgoing guy to work with. “Someone once said the chance of me becoming a famous singer is 1 in a million, I told them I was gonna be that 1.”
